Pleopronouns (or alternately Exopronouns) are non-themed neopronouns. They are neither nounself pronouns nor emojiself pronouns, though may sometimes include nameself pronouns depending on the user. They are generally not based on an existing word, symbol, or descriptor, and are intended for both verbal and textual communication (thus do not include text-only pronouns).

The original fae/faer pronoun set can also be considered pleopronouns by usage as well as origin, as they were not created with the intention of being direct derivatives of the root noun fae.

Someone who uses pleopronouns would be called pleopronominal or exopronominal.

Origin[]

The term was created in the old Pronoun Wiki Discord on 15 July 2021 by Wiki Admin Digi, with collaborative input from former Wiki Admins Cosmic Lemon151 and Contie.

During discussion, pleopronouns was chosen to be the main term due to worries of exopronouns easily being confused with the term exipronouns.

Etymology[]

Pleopronouns originates from the English Neo-classical prefix "pleo-", meaning "more".[1]

Exopronouns originates from the English prefix "exo-", meaning "other/outside".
