Description[]
Hu/hum neopronouns is a gender neutral pronoun set derived from the word "human". Also known as "humanist pronouns", this set was created by Sasha Newborn in 1982, in a college humanities text. They are obviously based on the word human. They could be considered the first instance of nounself pronouns.
The motivation behind the set was using "the genderless HUman" and taking a "back-clippings, in which an element or elements are taken from the end of a word" like in the words flu(influenza), lab(oratory) or math(ematics). It can be used by anyone regardless of gender identity or expression.
