Crosspronoun flag

The crosspronominal flag by Tumblr user beyond-mogai-pride-flags

Crosspronominal, previously known as transpronominal, is the use of atypical pronoun sets, that do not align with or are uncommon for ones gender identity. However, it is important to remember that pronouns do not equal gender and one does not have to identify as crosspronominal if they use atypical pronouns.

It is a form of gender non-conformity. Examples include:

  • binary women using any pronoun(s) other than she
  • binary men using any pronoun(s) other than he
  • non-binary people using she or he. (Non-binary people who use he/him or she/her may also identify as difpronominal).

Origin[]

It's unknown when the term was coined, however it has been used amongst the community since 2018.

Previously, the term transpronominal was sometimes used as a synonym for crosspronominal, however as of February 16, 2021 transpronominal has another definition that is different from crosspronominal.
