Ae/aer are an uninspired gender neutral neopronouns set created to be used for an alien race that did not have traditional male or female sexes.[1] These pronouns fall under the aerself umbrella.

These pronouns can be used by anyone regardless of gender identity or gender expression.

The ae/aer pronoun set was first used by David Lindsay in his 1920s novel, A Voyage to Arcturus, for an alien race which were born from air and of a third sex.[1] The original ae/aer flag was created by DeviantArt user pride-flags at an unknown date.[2] An alternative flag was created by Tumblr user mourningmogaicrew on July 17th, 2021.[3] Another alternative flag was created by Fandom user Slamathyst818 at an unknown date followed by another created by now deactivated Tumblr user nounselves on an unknown date.[4]
